I’ve known George McKay for over 20 years the majority of which have been in his role as Master Tailor of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards.  During that period, and in my capacity as Pipe Major, I have called upon George’s undisputed knowledge and expert tailoring skills numerous times for advice and assistance in uniform design, tailoring and medal mounting. There seemed to be no topic that George was not fully conversant with, scrupulous in legislation and perfect in design and workmanship. Now that I have left the Army, I still call upon George’s knowledge and skills.

I have my own personal kilt outfits; as do my other family members, which have all been maintained throughout the years by George and will be in the future.
Medals are a precious commodity of mine. As a Police Officer, I still require my medals to be mounted correctly for my uniform.   This is a task that I will not trust any other tailor with other than George McKay, past present and future, he is scores above the rest in his skills.

With so many different medal mounting companies to choose from, I was initially unsure of where to turn to. On noticing that George McKay was the former Master Tailor of the 1st Battalion, Scots Guards, I knew that deciding to use McKays would be the right option.

I posted them to him on Monday and came home from work on Wednesday to find a note from the postman saying my medals were at the sorting office waiting for me. An impressive turnaround and the quality of the medals he mounted were of the immaculate standard one would expect from the Household Division, and at a very competitive price.

George McKay court mounted my 9 medals at very short notice and returned them to me, all within a few days via post.  They were perfectly mounted and polished.  I'm very grateful for the great service.
